Summer Travel Scholarship for Teachers

The Classical Association of Florida and the Florida Junior Classical League offer a $3,000.00 scholarship in alternate years for foreign study or travel. The CAF awards $2,000 and the FJCL $1,000). The deadline for applications for the summer of 2025 is Oct 31, 2024. Applicants must meet the following requirements (cf. Latin Bulletin, 1977):
1. A K-12 teacher currently teaching Latin or Greek in Florida.
2. A teacher who has taught Latin or Greek for at least three years in Florida.
3. A teacher who is planning to teach Latin or Greek in Florida for at least another year.
4. A teacher who has taken students to the Latin Forum or has attended Forum on at least two occasions.
5. A teacher who has been a member of the Classical Association of Florida for at least three years.
6. A teacher who will use the scholarship for study or travel of a serious classical nature, approved in advance by the Scholarship Committee, and who agrees to the following:
A. to file a written report of his or her foreign study
or travel by the following October first with the
chairman of the Scholarship Committee; and
B. to give a report (preferably illustrated) at the Fall
meeting of the Classical Association of Florida.
7. Should there be any change in plans for the use of the scholarship as submitted to and approved by the Committee, such change must be submitted to the Committee in advance of use. Approval of the change may or may not be given.
8. Should the recipient not comply with all the stipulations listed above the stipend must be returned.
